Method

Preparation of Topping

  1. 1

    Dice the Tomatoes

Wash the tomatoes, remove the stems, and cut them into small cubes. Place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and mince them finely. Add the minced garlic to the bowl with the tomatoes.

  3. 3

    Chop the Basil

Rinse the basil leaves, pat dry, and chop them roughly. Add the chopped basil to the tomato and garlic mixture.

  4. 4

    Season the Mixture

Drizzle the balsamic vinegar, and sprinkle the salt and black pepper over the tomato mixture. Toss everything gently to combine. Let it sit to marinate while preparing the bread.

Preparation of Bread

  1. 5

    Slice the Baguette

Cut the baguette diagonally into 1/2 inch thick slices to create more surface area for toasting.

  2. 6

    Brush with Olive Oil

Brush each slice of baguette lightly with olive oil on one side.

  3. 7

    Grill the Bread

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Place the baguette slices oil-side down onto the grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Flip and grill the other side for another 1-2 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Top the Bread

Remove the grilled bread from the grill and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto the oiled side of each slice.

  2. 9

    Serve

Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and serve immediately for the best taste.
