Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Blackened Shrimp

In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil and blackening seasoning until fully coated. Heat a skillet over high heat and cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked through and slightly charred.

  2. 2

    Broiled Shrimp

Place shrimp on a broiler pan, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with blackening seasoning. Broil on high for 4-5 minutes, turning halfway, until shrimp are pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Crispy Shrimp

Dredge shrimp in flour, then dip in beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry shrimp for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Hushpuppies Preparation

  1. 4

In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together egg and milk. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then fold in chopped onion.

  2. 5

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 365°F (185°C). Drop spoonfuls of the hushpuppy batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
