Cooking the Grouper
Making the Hushpuppies

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, beaten egg, and chopped onion.

Combine Mixtures
Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Fry Hushpuppies
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Prepare Optional Sides
For coleslaw, mix coleslaw mix with ranch dressing. For steamed broccoli, steam until tender. For rice, cook according to package instructions.
