Oysters

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the oysters

Rinse the oysters under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Set up the breading station

In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour mixed with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.

  3. 3

    Coat the oysters

Dip each oyster first in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and finally in the cornmeal, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the oysters

Carefully add the breaded oysters to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.

  3. 6

    Drain and serve

Remove the fried oysters from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
