Method

Crab Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, black pepper, and green onions. Gently fold in the breadcrumbs and beaten egg until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Cakes

Shape the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill

Refrigerate the patties for at least 30 minutes to help them hold together.

  4. 4

    Cook the Crab Cakes

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the crab cakes until golden brown on both sides, about 5 minutes per side. Alternatively, you can broil or blacken them in a hot skillet.

Hushpuppies Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

  2. 6

    Add Wet Ingredients

Stir in milk and chopped onion until just combined. Do not overmix.

  3. 7

    Fry Hushpuppies

Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
