Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Rub both sides with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Sprinkle fresh rosemary or thyme on both sides.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a heavy skillet (preferably cast iron) over medium-high heat until it’s very hot.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the steak in the hot skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving it. Flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer it more done.

  5. 5

    Add Butter

In the last minute of cooking, add butter to the skillet. Use a spoon to baste the melted butter over the steak.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute.

  7. 7

    Serve

Slice and serve the ribeye steak with your favorite sides.
