Tea Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Tea

Once the water reaches a rolling boil, remove it from the heat and add 4 teaspoons of loose leaf tea or 4 tea bags. Stir gently to ensure the tea is fully immersed in the water.

  3. 3

    Steep the Tea

Cover the saucepan and allow the tea to steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea. For a milder flavor, steep for 5 minutes; for a stronger flavor, steep for up to 7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Remove Tea and Cool

After steeping, remove the tea bags or strain the loose leaf tea from the water using a fine mesh strainer. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, or refrigerate it for a chilled beverage.

  5. 5

    Serve

Pour the unsweetened tea into cups or glasses. Enjoy it hot, or serve it over ice with lemon or mint if desired.
