Cocktail Base

Method

Prepare Glass

1

Chill a pint or highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you gather ingredients to cool it.

2

If you prefer a salted rim, run the lime wedge around the glass lip and dip the rim into the coarse salt to coat lightly. Discard ice water if used and add fresh ice cubes (3–4) to the chilled glass.

Build Cocktail

3

Citrus & Sweetener

In a small jigger or mixing glass, combine 0.5 fl oz fresh lime juice and 0.25 fl oz simple syrup. If using orange liqueur for a hint of depth, add 0.25 fl oz now and stir briefly to combine.

4

Pour the citrus/syrup mixture over the ice in your chilled glass and give it a gentle stir (3–4 rotations) to slightly chill and distribute flavors.

5

Slowly pour 12 fl oz of chilled light lager beer down the side of the glass so it layers gently and minimizes foam. If the beer is very carbonated, pour in two stages, pausing to let foam settle between pours.

Finish & Garnish

6

Gently slap the mint sprig between your hands to release its aromatics, then tuck it into the drink near the rim (do not muddle aggressively).

7

Float the lime wheel on top or clip the wedge to the glass. Give the drink a final gentle stir (1–2 turns) to marry the layers without losing carbonation.

8

Serve immediately while the beer is lively and cold.
