Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

Beat Egg Yolks and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture becomes pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone and Vanilla
Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth, being careful not to deflate the mixture.
Prepare the Coffee Mixture

Brew Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If desired, mix in the coffee liqueur for added flavor.
Assemble the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the cooled coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer Cookies and Mascarpone
In a rectangular or square dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the cookies.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
