Boom Boom Shrimp

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Begin by rinsing the shrimp under cold water and patting them dry with a paper towel. This will help the coating adhere better.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the all-purpose flour mixed with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder in one bowl, the beaten eggs in another, and the panko breadcrumbs in the last.

  3. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread in; if it sizzles, it's ready.

  5. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  6. 6

    Make the Boom Boom Sauce

In a separate bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha sauce to create the boom boom sauce. Adjust the amount of sriracha to taste, depending on your desired heat level.

  7. 7

    Serve

Plate the fried shrimp and drizzle with the boom boom sauce. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately while hot.
