Method
Preparing the Burger Patties
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, shredded smoked Gouda cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1 inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
- 3
Chill the Patties
Cover the patties with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them firm up.
Cooking the Patties
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.
- 5
Cook the Patties
Carefully place the patties in the skillet. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- 6
Add Cheese (Optional)
If desired, place an additional slice of smoked Gouda cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking, covering the skillet to help the cheese melt.
Assembling the Burger
- 7
Prepare the Buns
While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns in a toaster or on a separate skillet until golden brown.
- 8
Layer the Ingredients
Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked turkey patty, a slice of tomato, and a few onion slices.
- 9
Complete the Burger
Top each burger with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.
