Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, hickory smoke seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Burgers

  1. 3

    Heat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, until a nice crust forms. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare Toppings

While the burgers are cooking, slice the tomato and red onion. Rinse the lettuce and set aside.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each burger bun, spread the mayonnaise, followed by the lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and red onion. Place the cooked burger patty with melted cheese on top and finish with ketchup and mustard.

  3. 8

    Complete the Burger

Top with the other half of the burger bun. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
