Salad Base

Method

Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Romaine Lettuce

Wash the romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Dry using a salad spinner or by patting with paper towels. Chop or tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Croutons

If using store-bought croutons, measure out 1 cup. If making homemade croutons, cut stale bread into small cubes, toss with olive oil, salt, and garlic powder, then bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes until golden and crispy.

  3. 3

    Grate the Parmesan

Using a grater, finely grate the parmesan cheese until you have 1 cup.

Dressing Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Dressing

In a small bowl, mash the garlic clove into a paste. Add the anchovy paste, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and lemon juice. Whisk together until well combined.

  2. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Slowly whisk in the olive oil until the dressing is emulsified. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Combine Salad Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the chopped romaine lettuce, croutons, and grated parmesan cheese.

  2. 7

    Dress the Salad

Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat all ingredients evenly.

  3. 8

    Serve

Divide the salad into serving plates or bowls and serve immediately. Enjoy your fresh Caesar salad!
