Portobello Fries

Spicy Horseradish Comeback Dressing

Method

Portobello Fries

  1. 1

    Prepare the mushrooms

Clean the Portobello mushrooms with a damp cloth and remove the stems. Slice each mushroom into fries approximately 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Set up the breading station

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second bowl, and panko breadcrumbs mixed with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the mushrooms

Take each mushroom fry, coat it in flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

  4. 4

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  5. 5

    Arrange and bake

Place the breaded Portobello fries on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.

    Mix the ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish sauce, hot sauce, lemon juice, and garlic powder.

  2. 7

    Season

Add salt and black pepper to taste, mixing well to combine all the flavors.

  3. 8

    Chill before serving

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
