Calamari
Cocktail Sauce
Method
Calamari Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Begin by cleaning and slicing the calamari into rings, if not already done.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well.
- 3
- 4
Coat the Calamari
Dip each calamari ring first into the egg wash, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.
- 5
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Calamari
Fry the calamari in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan, for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Cocktail Sauce Preparation
- 7
Mix Cocktail Sauce Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine ketchup, prepared horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Mix well until combined.
- 8
Adjust Seasoning
Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust with more horseradish or hot sauce according to your preference.
