Lasagna Ingredients

Method

Lasagna Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until onion is translucent. Add ground beef, cook until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Let simmer for 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ricotta Mixture

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until well combined. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to prevent sticking.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Lasagna

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of noodles over the sauce, then spread some of the ricotta mixture, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.

  5. 5

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  6. 6

    Let it Rest

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
