Method

Brewing Process

  1. 1

    Mashing

In a large pot, add 16 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add the barley malt and let it steep for about 60 minutes at a temperature of around 150°F (65°C).

  2. 2

    Boiling

After mashing, remove the grain bag and bring the liquid to a boil. Add the hops and continue boiling for another 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Cooling

After boiling, cool the wort quickly using an immersion chiller or by placing the pot in an ice bath until it reaches about 70°F (21°C).

  4. 4

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Add the yeast and seal the vessel with an airlock. Allow it to ferment for 1-2 weeks at room temperature.

  5. 5

    Bottling

After fermentation is complete, dissolve the priming sugar in a small amount of boiling water. Add this to the beer and mix gently. Transfer the beer into sanitized bottles, leaving some space at the top.

  6. 6

    Carbonation

Cap the bottles and let them sit at room temperature for another 1-2 weeks for carbonation to develop.

  7. 7

    Chilling and Serving

Once carbonated, chill the bottles in the refrigerator. Enjoy your homemade bottled beer responsibly!
