Prepare the Cucumbers
In a bowl, combine the sliced cucumber with rice vinegar, sesame oil, and a pinch of salt. Toss well and let it marinate for about 10 minutes.

Prepare the Szechuan Pepper Crust
In a spice grinder, pulse the Szechuan peppercorns until finely ground. Mix with salt and black pepper.

Season the Tuna
Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Brush with soy sauce and then press the Szechuan pepper crust mixture onto all sides of the tuna.

Cook the Tuna
In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Sear the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time based on thickness. Remove from heat.

Serve
Slice the tuna and serve it on a plate with the marinated cucumbers on the side. Drizzle the soy ginger butter over the tuna and add fresh wasabi to taste.
