Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes before cooking. This allows for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder. Rub the seasonings into the meat to ensure they adhere well.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over high heat for about 5 minutes. Add olive oil and allow it to heat until shimmering but not smoking.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Place the ribeye steak in the hot skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes without moving it. Flip the steak and sear the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add Butter and Herbs

During the last minute of cooking, add butter and fresh rosemary to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the steak as it finishes cooking for added flavor.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C); for medium, aim for 140°F (60°C).

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for about 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Slice and Serve

Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked prime ribeye!
