Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the A5 Japanese Wagyu Filet Mignon from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. Pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Seasoning

Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

  3. 3

    Sear the Steak

In a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Carefully place the filet mignon in the pan and sear for about 3-4 minutes on one side without moving it.

  4. 4

    Flip and Baste

Flip the steak and add butter, thyme, and crushed garlic cloves to the pan. Baste the steak with the melted butter using a spoon. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  6. 6

    Serve

Slice the filet mignon and serve it immediately, perhaps with a side of your choice.
