French Toast

Method

Prepare Berry Compote

  1. 1

    Cook the Berries

In a small saucepan, combine the mixed berries, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the berries have broken down and the mixture is slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare French Toast

  1. 2

    Whisk Ingredients

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

  2. 3

    Soak Bread

Dip each slice of sourdough bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.

  3. 4

    Cook the Toast

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted and bubbly, add the soaked bread slices. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate and Serve

Place the French toast on plates, top with warm berry compote, and garnish with fresh strawberries. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
