Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of salted water to a boil over high heat.

Cook the Macaroni
Once the water is boiling, add 2 cups of elbow macaroni. Stir occasionally and cook for about 8-10 minutes, or until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Making the Cheese Sauce

Add 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour to the melted butter. Stir continuously for about 1-2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.

Add Milk
Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, stirring often, until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Cheeses
Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and 4 oz of cream cheese until completely melted and combined.

Season the Sauce
Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of paprika. Mix well.
Combining Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring gently until all the pasta is coated with the sauce.

Prepare Toppings
If desired, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of breadcrumbs with 1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese.
