Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Make sure they are completely dry to ensure a crispy coating.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In one bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In a second bowl, place the beaten egg. In a third bowl, add the breadcrumbs.

  3. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Dip each shrimp first into the flour mixture, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs. Ensure each shrimp is evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil, frying in small batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Joppie Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Mix the Joppie Sauce

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, curry powder, white vinegar, onion powder, and salt. Mix well until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
