Espresso Ingredients

Method

Espresso Preparation

  1. 1

    Grind the Coffee Beans

Using a burr grinder, grind 18 grams of espresso coffee beans to a fine consistency, similar to table salt. Ensure the grind is uniform for optimal extraction.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Espresso Machine

Turn on your espresso machine and allow it to heat up for about 15 minutes. Ensure the portafilter is clean and dry before use.

  3. 3

    Tamp the Coffee

Add the ground coffee to the portafilter basket. Use a tamper to press down firmly and evenly, creating a level surface. The pressure should be around 30 pounds of force.

  4. 4

    Brew the Espresso

Lock the portafilter into the machine. Start the brewing process and aim for a shot time of 25-30 seconds. You should see a rich, dark liquid flow out, with a layer of crema on top.

  5. 5

    Serve

Once brewed, serve the espresso immediately in a pre-warmed cup. Enjoy it straight or use it as a base for other coffee beverages.
