Tortilla Chips

Method

Potato Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Using a mandoline or a sharp knife, slice them thinly into even rounds.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the chips crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the potato slices to the hot oil in small batches. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per batch.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While still warm, sprinkle with salt, paprika, and garlic powder.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the chips to cool completely before serving. Enjoy them as a snack or with your favorite dip.

Tortilla Chips

  1. 8

    Cut the Tortillas

Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into triangular wedges, about 6 pieces per tortilla.

  2. 9

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 10

    Fry the Tortilla Chips

Carefully add the tortilla wedges to the hot oil in small batches. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

  4. 11

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the tortilla chips from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While still warm, sprinkle with salt and cumin.

  5. 12

    Cool and Serve

Allow the tortilla chips to cool completely before serving. They can be enjoyed plain or with salsa and guacamole.
