Burrito Fillings
Method
Meat Preparation
- 1
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add your choice of ground meat (beef, chicken, or pork) and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- 2
Season the Meat
Add chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the cooked meat. Stir well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until spices are fragrant.
Burrito Assembly
- 3
Prepare the Tortillas
Warm the flour tortillas in a microwave or on a skillet for about 30 seconds to make them pliable.
- 4
Layer the Ingredients
On each tortilla, layer 1/4 cup of cooked rice, 1/4 cup of black beans, 1/4 of the cooked meat, 1/4 cup of diced tomatoes, 1/4 cup of chopped lettuce, and 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- 5
Add Condiments
Top each burrito with 2 tablespoons of sour cream, 2 tablespoons of salsa, and slices of avocado.
- 6
Wrap the Burrito
Fold the sides of the tortilla inwards and roll from the bottom up to form a tight burrito. Repeat for all tortillas.
Serving
- 7
Serve the Burritos
Cut the burritos in half if desired and serve immediately with extra salsa and sour cream on the side.
