Cocktail Preparation

  1. 1

    Make Hibiscus Tea

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Steep the Tea

Once boiling, remove from heat and let the hibiscus flowers steep for about 15 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove the flowers. Allow the hibiscus tea to cool to room temperature.

  3. 3

    Mix the Margarita

In a cocktail shaker, combine 1 cup of the cooled hibiscus tea, 1 cup of fresh lime juice, 1 cup of tequila, and 1/4 cup of agave syrup. Add ice cubes and shake well.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Glasses

On a small plate, pour 1 tsp of salt. Rub a lime slice around the rim of each glass, then dip the rim into the salt to coat.

  5. 5

    Serve

Pour the hibiscus margarita mixture into the prepared glasses filled with ice. Garnish with lime slices and a piece of dried hibiscus flower.
