Pasta

Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Penne

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the penne pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Vodka Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Vodka

Stir in the crushed tomatoes and vodka. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 5 minutes.

  3. 4

    Incorporate Heavy Cream

Lower the heat and add the heavy cream, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

  4. 5

    Finish with Basil

Stir in the chopped basil just before serving.

Meatball Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Meatballs

In a bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

  2. 7

    Form and Cook Meatballs

Form the mixture into small meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter). In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat and cook the meatballs until browned all over and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Protein Additions Preparation

  1. 8

    Sauté Chicken and Shrimp

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add the sliced chicken breast. Cook until golden and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Remove and set aside. Next, cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes until pink and cooked through, seasoning with salt and pepper.

Combining Everything

  1. 9

    Combine and Serve

In the large pot with the drained penne, add the vodka sauce, meatballs, sautéed chicken, and shrimp. Toss to combine and heat through. Serve hot and enjoy!
