Cooking Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

Cook Pasta
Once the water is boiling, add 200 grams of pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Reserve a small cup of pasta water.
Preparing Sauce

Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Add 400 grams of crushed tomatoes to the skillet. Stir in 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Add Fresh Basil
Once the sauce is simmering, tear 10 fresh basil leaves and add them to the sauce. Stir and let it simmer for another 5-7 minutes.
Combining and Serving

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss gently to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.

Plate the pasta and sauce mixture. Top with 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese and sprinkle red pepper flakes to taste. Serve immediately.
