Method
Preparation
- 1
Combine Egg Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- 2
Prepare the Bread
Lay the thick slices of bread on a flat surface. If they are not stale, you can allow them to sit out for a few minutes to dry out slightly.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet or griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat until bubbling but not browned.
- 4
Dip the Bread
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 10-15 seconds on each side.
- 5
Cook the French Toast
Place the soaked bread slices on the hot skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
- 6
Add More Butter
Add additional butter (about 1 tablespoon) to the skillet for each batch of French toast you cook, ensuring the bread does not stick.
Serving
- 7
Plate the French Toast
Once cooked, transfer the French toast to a serving plate.
- 8
Garnish and Serve
Drizzle with warm maple syrup, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and add fresh berries on top if desired. Serve immediately.
