Method
Preparation of Ribs
- 1
Prepare the Ribs
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and trim excess fat. This helps the ribs to become more tender and allows the flavors to penetrate better.
Dry Rub Application (if using)
- 2
Apply Dry Rub
In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Rub the mixture generously onto both sides of the ribs. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
BBQ Sauce Preparation
- 3
Make the BBQ Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
Cooking the Ribs
- 4
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). This low and slow cooking method is essential for tender ribs.
- 5
Bake the Ribs
Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover with another piece of foil and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat pulls away from the bone easily.
- 6
Serving
- 7
Slice and Serve
Once the ribs are caramelized and sticky, remove them from the oven. Let them rest for a few minutes, then slice between the bones and serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
