Method
Tofu Preparation
- 1
Mix Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, turmeric powder, and salt. Gradually add water while whisking to prevent lumps, until you achieve a smooth batter.
- 2
Cook Tofu
Pour the batter into a lightly greased square or rectangular pan. Steam the batter for about 20 minutes until it becomes firm. Let it cool for a few minutes.
- 3
Cut and Fry
Once cooled, cut the chickpea tofu into squares or triangles. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu pieces until golden brown and crispy on both sides, approximately 3-4 minutes per side.
Tamarind Sauce Preparation
- 4
Combine Sauce Ingredients
In a small saucepan, mix tamarind paste, brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and water.
- 5
Simmer Sauce
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Stir in chili flakes and remove from heat.
- 6
Garnish
Before serving, drizzle the tamarind sauce over the fried tofu and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
