Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the day-old bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- 2
Mix the Custard
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine and Soak
Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes. Gently fold to combine, then let it sit for about 20 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the liquid.
- 4
Add Caramel
Stir in the caramel sauce and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
- 5
Bake the Pudding
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- 6
Serve Warm
Allow the bread pudding to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle additional caramel sauce on top if desired.
