Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chips

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thick strips. Rinse under cold water to remove excess starch and pat dry with a towel.

  2. 2

    Preheat Oil

In a deep fryer or a large pot, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Fry the potato strips in batches until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season with salt to taste.

  4. 4

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until smooth.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Fish

Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. Dip each fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.

  6. 6

    Fry the Fish

Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the beer battered fish with the chips, tartar sauce, and lemon wedges on the side.
