Pickled Shishito Peppers Ingredients

Method

Pickling Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brine

In a medium saucepan, combine the white vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Heat the mixture over medium heat until the sugar and salt dissolve.

  2. 2

    Add Spices

Once the brine is ready, add the garlic cloves, mustard seeds, black peppercorns, and bay leaves. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes to let the flavors meld.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Peppers

While the brine simmers, wash the shishito peppers and poke a small hole in each pepper to allow the brine to penetrate.

  4. 4

    Combine and Cool

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the brine cool for about 10 minutes. Place the shishito peppers in a clean jar and pour the cooled brine over the peppers, ensuring they are fully submerged.

  5. 5

    Refrigerate

Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before consuming. The pickled peppers will be ready after 48 hours and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
