Hand-Cut Fries

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Cut the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thick strips, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps achieve a crispier fry.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. While still hot, season with salt, pepper, and optional spices like paprika and garlic powder.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the hand-cut fries hot as a side dish or snack. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces!
