Main Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Roast Beef

  1. 1

    Season the Beef

Sprinkle the roast beef evenly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  2. 2

    Slice the Beef

Using a sharp knife, thinly slice the seasoned roast beef against the grain into even strips.

Preparing the Mashed Potatoes

  1. 3

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into even chunks. Place them in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender.

  2. 4

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the boiled potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or fork until smooth. Add butter and milk to achieve desired creaminess, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assembling the Plate

  1. 5

    Toast the Bread

Lightly toast the thick-cut bread in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

On each slice of toasted bread, layer the thinly sliced roast beef generously. Spoon mashed potatoes on the side.

  3. 7

    Add Brown Gravy

Warm the brown gravy in a saucepan over low heat. Once hot, pour it generously over the roast beef and mashed potatoes.
