Syrup Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Syrup Base

In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves.

  2. 2

    Add Chocolate or Vanilla

If making the chocolate syrup, break the Ibarra chocolate into pieces and add to the saucepan. If making vanilla syrup, add the vanilla extract instead. Stir until the chocolate is melted and fully incorporated or until the vanilla extract is well mixed.

  3. 3

    Add Cinnamon

Add the cinnamon stick to the saucepan. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  4. 4

    Cool and Strain

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the syrup cool. Once cooled, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the cinnamon stick and any chocolate solids.

  5. 5

    Store

Transfer the syrup to a clean bottle or jar and store in the refrigerator. Use as desired in beverages or desserts.
