Pasta

Method

Pasta Preparation

1

Cook the Spaghetti

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

2

Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside, reserving a small amount of pasta water for later if needed.

Meat Sauce Preparation

3

Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.

4

Add Garlic and Meat

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

5

Incorporate Tomatoes and Seasonings

Mix in the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

6

Simmer the Sauce

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened and flavors meld.

7

Finish with Basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving to add freshness to the sauce.

Combine and Serve

8

Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti to the sauce, tossing gently to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to loosen it.

9

Serve

Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese on top. Enjoy your classic spaghetti Bolognese!
