Meatballs

Spaghetti

Tomato Sauce

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, around 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.

Spaghetti

  1. 4

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 3 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 5

    Cook the Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  3. 6

    Drain the Spaghetti

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water for later.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 7

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

  2. 8

    Prepare the Sauce

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 9

    Combine with Meatballs

Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the sauce and let simmer for an additional 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Assembly

  1. 10

    Combine Spaghetti and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti into the saucepan with the meatballs and sauce. Toss gently to coat the spaghetti evenly.

  2. 11

    Serve

Serve the spaghetti and meatballs hot, garnished with additional grated Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
