Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 2
Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes or until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- 3
Add Tomatoes
Stir in the diced tomatoes with their juices. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes.
- 4
Incorporate Cream and Cheese
Lower the heat and add the heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Protein Cooking (Optional)
- 5
Cook the Protein
If adding chicken, shrimp, or steak, season your choice of protein with salt and pepper. In a separate skillet, cook the protein over medium-high heat until fully cooked. Chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F, shrimp should be pink and opaque, and steak should be cooked to your desired doneness. Slice or chop the protein and set aside.
Combine and Serve
- 6
Mix Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked pasta to the sauce in the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- 7
Add Protein
If using, add the cooked chicken, shrimp, or steak to the pasta and sauce mixture. Stir well to combine.
- 8
Garnish and Serve
Serve the Pasta Diablo hot, garnished with fresh basil. Enjoy your spicy and creamy pasta dish!
