Alfredo Sauce
Method
Cooking the Pasta
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.
Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
Drain and Set Aside
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Reserve a cup of pasta water for later use if needed.
Making the Alfredo Sauce
Melt Butter
In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
Add Heavy Cream
Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
Incorporate Parmesan Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Continue to simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken.
Season the Sauce
Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
Combining Pasta and Sauce
Combine
Add the drained fettuccine pasta to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss until the pasta is well coated.
Serve
Plate the fettuccine Alfredo and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
