Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Make honey syrup

Combine 2 parts honey with 1 part hot water (for example 2 tablespoons honey + 1 tablespoon hot water). Stir until fully combined and slightly cooled. Measure 0.5 oz for the cocktail and refrigerate remainder up to 2 weeks.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz blended malt Scotch, 0.75 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice, 0.5 oz honey syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Strain

Double-strain (using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer if available) into a chilled Old Fashioned glass over one large ice cube or into a coupe if you prefer served up.

5

Garnish and serve

Express the oils of an orange twist over the surface by holding the twist over the drink and giving it a quick squeeze with the peel facing down. Rub the peel around the glass rim and drop it into the drink as garnish. Serve immediately.
