Cocktail
Chill glass (optional)
If you prefer a colder drink, place your old-fashioned glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.
Add 2 oz Bulleit Bourbon, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters into a mixing glass or directly into an old-fashioned glass if not stirring in a separate vessel.
If using a mixing glass: fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture briskly for 20–30 seconds to properly chill and dilute (about 10–12 full revolutions). If building directly in the serving glass: add a large ice cube or several medium ice cubes and stir gently for 10–15 seconds to integrate and chill.
Discard any ice water from the chilled glass if you used that method. Add one large clear ice cube (or fresh ice) to the serving glass if you stirred in a separate glass.
Express the orange peel over the drink by holding it with the outer (zest) side facing down and giving it a firm twist to release oils. Rub the peel around the rim of the glass, then drop it into the drink as a garnish.
Serve immediately and enjoy. Sip straight or with the garnish; adjust bitters or syrup to taste on future pours.
