Method
Crust Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Add the chilled, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 2
Add Ice Water
Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix.
- 3
Chill the Dough
Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 4
Roll Out the Dough
Once chilled, roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to fit your pie dish. Transfer the dough to the dish and trim the edges.
- 5
Pre-Bake the Crust
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork and bake for about 15 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and set aside.
Filling Preparation
- 6
Whisk the Eggs
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream until well combined.
- 7
Add Fillings
Stir in the shredded cheese, cooked bacon, chopped spinach, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg until evenly distributed.
Assembling and Baking
- 8
Combine the Mixtures
Pour the egg mixture into the pre-baked crust, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
- 9
Bake the Quiche
Bake the quiche in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is slightly golden.
- 10
Cool and Serve
Allow the quiche to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with your choice of fresh fruit or house salad.
