Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook Fettuccine

Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the unsalted butter and let it melt completely.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Add Heavy Cream

Pour in the heavy cream and increase the heat slightly. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently.

  4. 7

    Incorporate Parmesan

Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.

  5. 8

    Season the Sauce

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as necessary.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 9

    Combine

Add the drained fettuccine to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 10

    Adjust Consistency

If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

Serving

  1. 11

    Garnish

Serve the Pasta Alfredo hot, garnished with chopped parsley on top for added color and flavor.
