Method

Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Cut in the unsalted butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Add Water

Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.

  3. 3

    Chill the Dough

Shape the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the dough to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Place the rolled dough into the pan and trim the edges.

  5. 5

    Pre-bake the Crust

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Mix the Filling

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, cooked sausage, chopped bell pepper, chopped onions, black pepper, and salt.

  2. 7

    Pour Filling into Crust

Pour the egg mixture into the pre-baked crust, ensuring even distribution of the ingredients.

  3. 8

    Bake the Quiche

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the quiche is set in the center and lightly golden on top.

  4. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove the quiche from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
