Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.

  3. 3

    Add Egg and Vanilla

Add the large egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until well combined.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 4

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly mixed.

  2. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

  3. 6

    Add Chocolate Chips

Fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Baking

  1. 7

    Scoop the Dough

Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to portion out the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  2. 8

    Bake the Cookies

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.

  3. 9

    Cool the Cookies

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
