Salad Base

Method

Preparation for Salad

  1. 1

    Wash and Chop Romaine

Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt. Shake off excess water and chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare Croutons

If using store-bought croutons, measure out one cup. If making homemade croutons, cube day-old bread, toss with olive oil, salt, and spices, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

Making the Caesar Dressing

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 4

    Mix Dressing

Whisk the mixture until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more salt or pepper if desired.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 5

    Combine Salad Ingredients

In a large salad bowl, add the chopped romaine lettuce and croutons.

  2. 6

    Add Dressing

Pour the Caesar dressing over the salad and toss gently until the lettuce and croutons are evenly coated.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve immediately, garnished with additional grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
