Method

Preparing the Boiled Shrimp

  1. 1

    Prepare the Water

In a large pot, combine 4 quarts of water, Old Bay seasoning, salt, lemon halves, and bay leaves. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Boil the Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the pot. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Drain and Cool

Remove the pot from heat and drain the shrimp in a colander. Rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process. Let cool for a few minutes.

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, minced garlic, lemon juice, and chopped parsley.

  2. 5

    Season to Taste

Add salt and black pepper to taste, adjusting according to your preference. Stir well to combine.

Making the Cocktail Sauce

  1. 6

    Mix Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine ketchup, prepared horseradish, lemon juice, hot sauce, and salt.

  2. 7

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust the seasoning with additional horseradish or salt as needed.
